Food Safety
Hey guys,
Today’s post will be about food safety.
I found some useful tips on preparing food, handling food and serving food.
1 Wash your hands. Remember to wash with warm soapy water for at least 20 seconds, before and after handling food, before feeding infants and children’s, and before and after changing nappies.
Wash eating areas with warm and soapy water. This includes tables, benches, plates, bowls, cups and cutlery.
Always watch infants and children when they are eating.
Avoid feeding children under 5 years old, food that is small, round or hard. This can include hotdogs, whole grapes, lollies, popcorn, nuts, carrots, apple chunks, and gum.
Keep dishwashing detergent and soap, away from little kids, to avoid accidental poisoning,
Ask the parents for specific instruction on how to safely prepare baby bottles and food.
Always keep young children and pets away from cooking areas.
Keep knives and other sharp objects away from reach and sight.
Don’t put knives in a full sink, because someone might reach in and cut themselves.
Keep electrical appliances away from water. Operate with dry hands
Make sure paper towels, dishtowels and oven mitts are kept away from the stove, as they could cause a fire.
Never leave cooking unattended. If you must leave the kitchen while cooking, turn off all appliances and remove pots and pans from the heat. Always turn pot handles in. Keep pots and pans out of a young child’s reach.
I am sure there are many more but these were a few of my favourites!!
Meaghan xoxo
