Babysitting Qualities

Hey guys,

If you are wanting to start babysitting then the following list of qualities are what parents are looking for when they are hiring you as a babysitter or a nanny for your kids. Whether you are babysitting on a regular basis or on an occasional basis, parents are still looking for these qualities when hiring you as a babysitter.

Here we go:

Responsibility- Parents expect you to be a responsible person because you are looking after their kids without them around. You are a supervisor and the parents expect that when they come home, everything should be running smoothly. Even if something bad happens, parents expect you to tell them. Reporting mistakes or incidents will help you get more babysitting jobs because they will recommend you and say that you are honest- which is another quality. 

Good overall health- If you have a cold or other contagious disease do not accept a babysitting job, you do not want to infect the children because younger kids have a lower immune system than adults or teenagers. This means that they can catch infections and colds easier.

Loves Kids- If you want to babysit you have to have a special bond with children. Loving kids will make your job so much easier. You should be able to understand kid’s feelings and if you love the kids you are babysitting, they will be able to tell. Your attitude must be positive. Keep your grumpy attitude at home for your parents ;)- Sorry parents!

Playful-Parents want a babysitter with a good imagination who can create games, activities, and crafts. They don't want babysitters plopping their children in front of the TV. A playful personality shows parents that you genuinely care about fostering a healthy, fun, and active environment for their kids.

·        Experience

·        Special Training- babysitting course, first aid/ or CPR

·        On time

·        Have a business like attitude

·        Communication
